Usage Guidelines
  • Users are supposed to submit jobs only through interactive manner.
  • Users should run and write their jobs from /home/username/foldername only
  • Users must understand that HPC is a central facility that is shared by all members of the institute. Users should therefore use an optimum number of processing cores by testing for scaleup.
  • It is strongly recommended that users backup their files-folders periodically, as ISTF will not be having a mechanism to backup users’ data.
  • For any issue or requests pertaining to HPC Lab, please send your email with your working-path, error logs and error screenshots and submit-script only at helpdesk.istf@iitgn.ac.in
  • Users may use -X as a flag to run X Windows or any GUI based app in case you are connecting to the server remotely
  • Users should NOT REBOOT any of the HPC Lab Systems under any circumstances.

How to Obtain an Account in HPC Lab: Please send an email to helpdesk.istf@iitgn.ac.in with a copy to your supervisor. Also please do let us know the duration of the account required and the list of software which you wish to run.

How to Work in HPC Lab: Please visit the Lab at AB5/206 and access the computers using your IITGN Net ID as your username and IITGN Net ID password as your password.

How to Request for HPC account

Please send an email to helpdesk.istf@iitgn.ac.in with a copy to your supervisor. Also please do let us know the duration of the account required and the list of software which you wish to run.

Where is my quota and how do I change it?

For Linux Users, the quota for each user is 50 GB in home directory.
For Windows users, it advisable to perform housekeeping periodically before the the user profile or home directory gets filled

How many Jobs can I run with how many cores?

There is no limit on the number of jobs per user. But since this is an institute facility hence it is requested to use the resources judiciously

Where do I run my Jobs?

Users may sit in the Lab or take remote of the workstation to work
